I was born in France in 1952, at Illiers-Combray near Chartres and I spent all my youth in that city. As long ago as I can remember, I was fascinated by its cathedral, especially by its stained glass and its stone sculptures: I spent long hours of my girlhood contemplating them with delight.
I came to Montreal in 1974 where I pursued a career in business administration and teaching. Iin 1990 I began taking artistic glass work courses at "Centre des Métiers du Verre du Québec". From that time on, I developed a real passion for this medium: I took a number of workshops to be able to choose between several techniques to realise any particular project. I therefore hope to make the best use of the limitless possibilities of this noble but demanding material. In 1992, I was a founding member of the "Association des Artistes Verriers du Québec": I was elected to the board of directors where I held the positions of administrator, secretary-treasurer and vice-president. I was also on the selection committee for the cold glass exhibition which took place in Montréal, in 1996 during the "Biennale canadienne du verre".
Since 1992, I have been exploring the classical methods of sculpture in clay and lost wax, with live models, as well as finishing techniques such as moulding, casting and cold patina at "Institut des beaux-arts Villa Maria". In 1993, I also took courses in drawing and in watercolour at "Centre des Arts Visuels". In 1995, I took part in the 12th "Gala international des Arts visuels" in Montreal and one of my sculptures got the 3rd trophy "all categories". In 1996, I put more emphasis on large scale work, realizing a life size sculpture of a male model which was in nomination for the First Grand Price at the 13th "Gala des Arts visuels". In 1998, I shared the 2nd trophy with Roger Ghys at the 15th "Gala des Arts visuels". On the other hand, I got in 2001, from "Université de Montréal" a M. A. degree in art history on the subject : "Sculptural Glass in Quebec".
Why did I choose glass and sculpture to express myself?
Glass is a fascinating messenger of light which offers to its lovers the radiant quality of its translucency. Sometimes rendered indomitable by the power of the fire but obedient when it cools down, it generously leans to the artist's imagination. As far as sculpture is concerned, it enables me to express my plastic vision of the interiority of life.
